I’m not sure if I can pose…

2024年10月21日

In this page, we would like to discuss the posing for photoshoots at the Oiran Photography Studio Yairo in Chiba in detail.

Isn't posing for a photo shoot difficult?

Many people might think that posing for photos requires glamorous poses, but when it comes time to actually shoot, they may not know what to do...
There are likely many people who feel this way.
This time, we will talk about posing.

Basically, the photographer will guide you during the shoot

Expression and charm are unique to each individual.
Each one reflects personality and individuality.
To ensure that all our clients can feel at ease, the photographer will guide you accurately.

Are there any tips for posing during kimono shoots?

There are several tips for posing during a kimono shoot:

Gracefulness of the hands
The gracefulness of the hands greatly affects the overall impression. Avoid tensing up, and imagine lightly applying pressure only to the fingertips, subtly adjusting each finger.
If you tense up too much, your fingers may look robotic, so relax and be at ease.

Consider poses that minimize parts of yourself you don't like
Everyone has some insecurities. With the right pose, you can minimize the appearance of these insecurities.
For example, if you have concerns about having a slight overbite, you can take a frontal photo in a posed position to make it less noticeable.

Keep your back straight
When wearing a kimono, the weight and tightness of the obi can make you slouch. However, in photos, the curvature of your back can be more noticeable than it appears in person.
Focus on keeping your back straight and lightly pulling your chin down.

Ensure your stomach doesn't stick out
Wearing a silk kimono can feel heavy, and over time, the weight can affect your posture.
One common issue is a swayback posture that causes your stomach to protrude.
To avoid this, be mindful of your posture to prevent this from happening.

Be careful not to raise your chin
If you want to show a cute expression, raising your chin may result in a more haughty look.
On the other hand, if you aim for that haughty expression, raising your chin will help.
If you try to straighten your back, your chin may naturally rise, so consciously lower it slightly for a softer look.

How to strike a natural-looking pose?
By slightly twisting your body, you can achieve a more natural appearance. When being photographed from the front, the image can become flat, so try turning your shoulders slightly away from the camera or stepping one foot forward to create a more three-dimensional look.

How to avoid a stiff smile?
To bring out a natural smile, think of something fun or relaxing. When you are at ease and consciously make your eyes smile, your expression will naturally appear more genuine.

How to make your legs appear longer in a pose?
Step one foot slightly forward and bend your knee lightly to create the illusion of longer legs. Additionally, shooting from a slightly lower angle can further elongate your legs.

How to make your face look smaller?
If you tilt your face slightly to the side and face the camera, depending on the lighting angle, shadows can create a slimming effect on your face. Also, gently covering part of your face with your hand or placing your hand near your face can emphasize your facial contour.

How to look slimmer in your body?
Stand with your chest out and your back straight to create the illusion of a better physique. To accentuate your waistline, place your hand on your waist or shift your weight to one side to make your body look more toned.

Not sure which angle is best to look most beautiful?
For many people, tilting the face slightly or leaning it to one side often creates a balanced appearance. Try experimenting with different angles in front of a mirror to find the one that suits you best.

How to look stylish while sitting for a photo?
Sitting up straight and slightly leaning forward will create a good posture. Additionally, crossing your legs and tilting your body slightly can make your legs look longer and more elegant.

How to create a pose that conveys movement?
By slightly lifting one foot and capturing the moment of walking or moving your hair in a subtle way, you can create a natural pose that gives the impression of motion.

How to make hand positioning look natural? (For non-kimono poses)
To make your hands look natural, gently touch your face or hair, or place your hand on your waist for a relaxed vibe. Also, putting one hand in your pocket or holding an object can make the hand movements appear more fluid.
