This time, I (Maru), the dressing specialist, will be summarizing the innerwear (underwear) for the photoshoot.

Oiran Dressing is Slightly Different from Regular Dressing

What kind of underwear should I wear?

Oiran kimonos are worn with a collar that is pulled down much further than usual.

Therefore, we recommend wearing undergarments with thin straps, such as a regular bra or camisole-type bra top, ones that can be easily adjusted, or those with no fabric on the back (like a tube top).

Undergarments to Avoid for Smoother Dressing

On the other hand, undergarments such as sports bras or tank top bras should be avoided as they may show under the kimono. If you're unsure about what to wear on the day, a regular bra would be a good choice. Bra + camisole is also fine!

If you’ve worn a type of undergarment that doesn’t allow the back to show, don’t worry! We have NuBra available, so please ask the staff on the day of the shoot.

The most recommended undergarments are a regular bra + camisole (long is also fine) + short spats or innerwear worn under skirts. This combination will make the dressing process smoother.
